Our brief was to create an external unit to house a coffee bar for an office complex in Cambridge. We achieved this by taking a new shipping container and transforming it into a self-contained kitchen, coffee bar area and seating.
The rugged container exterior has been softened with oak timber strip cladding, glass doors, and feature lighting. With the internal room clad with finished plywood walls, tactile Corian worktops and bar height seating.
The material finishes link perfectly with the courtyard setting of the other buildings, helping to ground the unit; along with the outdoor seating helping to create the perfect hub space for coffee breaks.
The end result is a practical, durable and fun space which sits seamlessly within the Sixth Form Common Room.
